Musings on a Monday: Internet Hating

Good morning peeps, I know it’s already Tuesday, but I was too tired to write this post last night, but I kept thinking about this:

Why do people bother to take the time to comment on a photo on the internet just to state their disapproval or simple dislike?

instagram, hating, internet

This happened to me for the first time. It doesn’t bother me that a random person on the internet thinks my makeup looks awful. But it makes me wonder. To find pics from other users who I don’t follow I usually browse hashtags, so then I see a picture I dislike, I click it, I hit the comment button, I comment and send the comment and go back to browsing hash tags…

Is it only me or does this seem to be quite some effort just to be mean? Wow. This seems to be rather sad. Wasting so much energy on something unfriendly. I bet these people would be happier if they’d put some energy into being nice, polite, supportive. Because that way you get so much back.

I would never bother. If I don’t like a look, then I just don’t care and go on to the ones I love to tell the people who created them, that I do so. This is “spreading the love” all over again. I am so happy when one of pics on instagram gets likes (and I am talking 10-12, not 600), I love to get an interaction on twitter and I love blog comments.

By the way, I changed my twitter name, so it would match my instagram: find me @storysmoking now. And I am auto-sharing my content to my tumblr, so it might be easier for people to follow there. (Although I do have an WP-follow-button on here ;) )

Well, I guess the more people see my content, the more haters might turn up. But there are far more supporters and lovely blogging ladies out there! Has this happened to you, too? Share your story!

Share the love

Hey peeps, that’s what I wanna do today!

Normally I do not really care for certain brands, it is not important to me, I wear whatever I like and use which ever make up or nail polish has pretty colors and good quality. I look for affordable brands rather then famous ones. Sometimes for good quality I do turn to stuff, that’s more expensive than department store, e.g., but if I do, I feel it’s totally worth it.

But it’s not only quality that keeps my loyalty at a certain place, in this case company. It is more than that. It’s their way of building customer relations and fostering their community. And let’s be serious: Who does not want to be part of a great community, eyspecially it is made up of gorgeous and inspiring ladies? I certainly do!

I discovered two brands I came to love for exactly that! I follow their instagram and their twitter and thei facebook, simply because I cannot get enough of them! What I like most about their social media pages: They share their customers experience and style. Are you curious which ones I talk about or do you already know?

One of them is Black Milk Clothing. I totally love their stuff as you probably already know frome here, here and here. I love how they connected their website to instagram and show all the awesome girls or rather ‘hot little bosses’ in the radest nylons! And they encourage every girl to share her pics on their facebook page while they feel responsible to take care of their community by banning mean, stupid or insulting comments. Every sharky is beautiful, no matter which size. And everything written I ever received from them, I loved, the texts are just so personal and sweet. Go order from them!

And of course I love Sugarpill Cosmetics. How could I not? The colors are so freakin’ colorful and pretty! Highly pigmented eye shadows and also glitter – what a girl wants! At least, what I want. Since I got my first Sugarpill makeup a little while ago I am so in love and keep on wearing really bright, fancy, crazy, kick ass makeup in the office :D the other girls there are really sweet, admiring my ‘skills’. And of course, I shared those looks on my instagram and twitter, I tagged Sugarpill’s instagram/twitter hoping they might like it and trying to spread the love. And they actually did! This got me soooooo excited!

I feel really proud and love them even more. I didn’t think I am as awesome as all the other girls they post showing gorgeous looks in vibrant colors. Yeah, I know they take professional photos and there’s some retouching going on, but the looks are crazy beautiful. I never thought my (rather crappy) cell phone pictures would be noticed. Ha. They didn’t post any of my looks on their pages yet, but they retweeted them and that’s so much motivation and simply makes me happy. So today I told them and got this answer which is even better than any RT:

Wow, I think my heart skipped a beat. This is so cool! And I wanted to share this moment with you guys, just to spread the love. But also to show you, that the little things count and you just have to believe in yourself! Did you create a cool makeup look? Tag the companies whose products you used. You came up with a cool style. Tag the companies! You might never know what will happen. :) Put yourself out there and feel the love!

My coworkers also told me to do tutorials on youtube… I am not sure about that yet. Would you watch those vids?

PS: I changed my twitter to match my instagram name :) come on, join me!

Makeup madness

Since I got my Sugarpill Cosmetics parcel, I am in love with wearing bold eye makeup. Here are some of the colorful styles, I have been wearing lately, using SugarPill eye shadows and LimeCrime.

You can find more makeup looks on my facebook page, I will post more there and on instagram. So come on and follow me for some inspiration. I draw my own inspiration from all kinds of wonderful people I follow on instagram!

This is so much fun! Do you like bold eye makeup? Which one is your favourite look?

All the new things

Hey dolls (and guys?!), here I am again.. there are a few things that have changed since my last ‘I have so much to do’-post, but it definitely is not less to do!

There are some new things one the blog:

1. I am back to my ‘old’ theme, I just love its simple stylishness. If you like it as well, it’s called Blaskan!

2. I got the WP Like button on here now, too. So like all the things!!! ;)

3. This post!

There’s also so much new stuff from work, more employees and new responsibilities and thousands of ideas and projects. Most days I spent 1-3 hours more in the office than I should. But I love my job!

I also got new make-up! From the amazing Sugarpill Cosmetics. My sister and I ordered together and just got the parcel. It took forever, mostly due to German customs. But we are sooooo happy now. We bought nearly all of the loose eyeshadow shades and shared them..

I know it kinda looks like we wanna sell drugs.. well, make up is kinda like drugs for my sister and me :D  And my sister gave me the sticker, oh how I love her! ♥

And since it’s Wednesday, here’s a new wisdom quote:

quote, words of wisdom, picture, wisdom, happiness, life, C.S. lewsi

And for general fun watch my friends change their dog into some ghetto kiddo :D

What’s up with me and blogging?

Hey there sweet-hearts,

I am such a lazy bum.. And I won’t promise to be better, because that would be a hollow promise! I would love to blog everyday about fashion and me and nail art and cats and all those things. But I am working everyday and boy, I can tell you, that is some serious sh**! It is exhausting. When I come home from work, I write only a few necessary messages to those of my friends who would be upset if I didn’t. The others just know I love them as dearly, but I am just too tired to write.

Then it’s “change in PJs”-time and I am already off to dreamland. Well, I confess every now and then I watch half an hour TV. And at 7 am next morning the working day starts again. Next week not for me though, I’ll be a week off, no vacation, just relaxing with ‘Katze’ at home! I am so looking forward to this!

Sometimes I meet friends after work. 7 pm-10pm at the latest, I need sleep, lots of it! Yesterday my daddy visited and I cut his hair. That was really due, he looked like a mix of Captain Ahab and a hobo! Now he looks handsome again! :D When he said, he should leave at 9.30 pm, I was sad, but also thought, yes! off to bed now, woohoo! That’s seems a little crazy to me.

Here’s just a little pic I found on the internet and loved instantly.

r2d2 love

Anyhow, I was wondering, there are so many bloggers out there.. I think, most people reading this blog, are probably bloggers themselves, amirite? How do you do that! How often do you blog and how do you take the time for that?

PS: If you want to see more stuff, I come along on the internet, like my facebook-page, I share more crazy-stupid-fun-pretty stuff there (especially make-up and nail art)!

Matching tattoos

As I told you guys earlier, my sister and me got matching tattoos: The symbols for faith, love and hope! It was my sister’s first tattoo and naturally, she was quite excited :) in the end it turned out, it didn’t hurt as much as she had expected it to. We are both really happy with the outcome and maybe our other sisters will join in, too.

I love tattoos, but it’d never get a name tattooed.. well, maybe my family, but no one else. Anyways, I think this is cool, because I will always know, my sister has the same tattoo, even though other people won’t. That’s just the visible part of our deep connection.

I love her so much, just as I love all of my sisters (3 in total) and my mom and dad. I have just the best family. Sure, they bug me and can be a real pain, all of them. But even after a fight no one is mad for a long time. My parents are divorced for a year now, but they still get along and no one of us kids ever doubted their love for us, they simply gave us no reason!

To everyone out there with a great family, don’t forget to appreciate that! If you don’t have a family, that can be there for you, for whichever reason, know, that there’s always some one out there, who loves you, friends can be like family!

So after all this blabla, here are pics from the tattoo session and the result.

And here’s the result, I absolutely love it!

tattoo, faith, love, hope, tätowierung, glaube, liebe, hoffnung

Afterwards we also did some retouching of my last tattoo, as you can see here:

tattoo, 8 bit, zelda, gaming, heart, super nintendo

By the way, my sister is a make up artist and we were thinking of doing video tutorials together. What do you think? That’ll be cool, won’t it? She is so talented and I am so proud. To see some of her work, visit her facebook-page.

Musings on a Monday: Picture count

Hey there, this is a topic I have been thinking about.. The right amount of pictures in a post. Well, obviously, I think I post the right amount. But how come this struck me? Well, I love to read blogs or look at pretty pictures, especially when enjoying a nail art or personal style blog.

But sometimes I don’t enjoy those as much as I wish I could. When some one posts 8-10 pictures of one mani, then it somehow gets annoying, for me anyways. I mean, I was able to figure out that I see a two-tone nail with some glitter (just a random example, nothing I’ve seen lately). What are the 7 other pics for? To let me know you can take pics with the flash on and off? That you are able to move your hand? Good for you!

Same with outfit posts. I know, 2-3 pics are sometimes necessary to show off all the prettyness, but I don’t need to see a variety of 10 pics showing you in pretty much the same pose, only the slightest difference, I sometimes don’t even notice. And yes, your bff or boyfriend is such a talented photographer.. Normally, you are pretty and have a great style, but come on, it looks sooo much more professional to choose 1-2 pictures from the whole shoot and only post those maybe add a detail shot. But that should be it!

Excuse my little rant here. I do not mean anyone in particular here. This is just a hint for blogs I stumbled upon, but did not care to follow, because of the pic overload. What do you think about this?
